Once Pictured
Photography
Exploring the idea of memory, I created a photograph that reflects a memory from my past. Growing up, my childhood house was full of many orchids, the first one appearing when I was 10. Over the past decade, they have become a symbol for my family as there is one in each room so I decided to feature it as my subject matter. Memories often aren’t the clearest, warped by perception. When taking the photograph, I used lighting techniques to achieve a pink and green hue and played with camera motion to create a dream effect within the image. I challenged myself to achieve the desired effect without using image-altering software, exploring photography as an image-making technique.
