Produce Depot is a visual exploration of the stickers found on fruits and veggies in grocery stores. The stickers blend into the background of our supermarkets yet hold so much information. After collecting various stickers from a local grocery store, I began to deconstruct the shapes and investigate the information found within. I then used the information to develop a visual narrative to represent the range of farms and produce found in our local supermarkets. The book was composed so that each spread tells a different story, while still working together as a whole. For the visual style, I intended to use modern design trends in a way that evoked a feeling of nostalgia to reflect the nature of the stickers. The book was created by combining both artistic and commercial design strategies. I created all the imagery using various photography techniques and ensured that all the images worked together. Drawing from modernist trends of the late 19th century; the font pairings play into the feeling of nostalgia that the book evokes while still aligning with current design trends.
